You Said Yes? Glory Revealed Recap
You Said Yes? Glory Revealed
Some passages of scripture make immediate sense and connection for us. Others require some unpacking and “sit with” time.
Our 2020 theme from Colossians 1:27 may be the later for many of us: “Christ in you the hope of glory.”
Studying Mark 1 sheds some helpful light on our theme. We learn again of The Christ. We see he is not afraid. Threats and unsafe situations don’t deter his mission. He embraces the baptism of water, Holy Spirit, and the refining fire of hardship. He gathers teammates.
And as The Christ gathers teammates he unveils to us one of his primary purposes in arranging that He would come to live inside all believers.
“Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Christ went to the cross to die and rise again so that the veil would be torn and his residence would shift from the temple to the hearts of believers {Christ in you}. And once he comes to reside in us, for the rest of our lives we hear His Spirit say to ours, “Follow me.”
The disciple’s response is Exhibit A for our I Said Yes series: Jesus said, “Follow me,” and IMMEDIATELY they left behind what they were doing to say “YES” to The Christ’s invitation.
Their response to Jesus is GLORIOUS. And it begins to help us understand our theme in the same way listening to the change happening in Dayspringers during their I Said Yes stories helps us grasp our theme.
As you and I say yes to God’s invitation to follow him into new, exciting, but usually scary ways, the transformation scripture promises will happen when The Christ moves into our hearts becomes more evident in us. We display the glory of God as we say “yes” to what he asks because it looks different than the world around us just saying “yes” to whatever they crave to satisfy themselves.
Every Christian is a Glory Carrier. But the hope of His glory shines even brighter for all to see each time we say “yes” to The Christ in us inviting, “Follow me.”
I am to daily display The Hope of Glory.
So are you.
Because we’re Glory Carriers.
And so we pray together: “God appoint me to show your glory to someone today.”
